Inception
In 2015, Shure microphones reached out to CHVA to create a new video series for an unreleased product line called Shure MOTIV. The challenge was to create videos that featured musical artists interacting with their mics in a real-world scenario.
The Challenge
Shure wanted every bit of unedited audio that was recorded from the sessions to be the audio we used for the final cut without taking away from our cinematic approach to each story. As the product line began to grow, we were asked to expand the video series, all while continuing with the aesthetic and visual approach that we began this journey with. This has led to the creation of nearly a dozen videos all with a cohesive look and feel.
Shure was aware of our sensibility toward music creation and performance and knew that we would be a good fit to produce the series. The main objectives were to create something that authentically portrayed their microphones in a genuine scenario that musicians would typically find themselves in. The people, places, and scenarios that are featured in these videos were all plucked out of Chris’s life journey of being a local Chicago musician. Dedicated to telling an authentic narrative, we chose to pull these stories out of Chris’s past because they were as real and honest as one can be. We are thankful to have been given the opportunity to highlight local musicianship and to tell creative stories through Chris’ past experiences with music. The Shure MOTIV product line series has gone on to win many awards and we at CHVA are proud to represent filmmakers, podcasters, journalists, and creative individuals who are looking to capture the highest possible sounds and visuals quality.
